Tony was admitted as an attorney and conveyancer in 1976 and notary public in 1978.  He has practised as a conveyancer since 1977, and in more recent times has developed a special interest in property developments. He is also experienced in all aspects of notarial work.

Between 1988 and 1993 Tony served as a Councillor of the KZN Law Society (The Natal Law Society as it was then) and on the South African Law Society's Property Law committee during the same period. From 1992 until 1999 Tony was a Conveyancing examiner.

In 1999, Tony received an LLM in Environmental Law from the University of Natal. His dissertation was entitled "South African Cross Border Parks: Towards an International Convention for the establishment of Cross Border Wildlife Reserves in Southern Africa and the legal consequences thereof". The research for this dissertation involved a study of International Law and the International Conventions and Treaties relating to the Environment.

Tony is a past Chairman of the Pietermaritzburg Chamber of Industries Environmental Forum.
